Last night I went to the gym early.
It was 10 PM.
I went with clear intentions. I would hang from the monkey bars with a variety of grips. Forward, backward, sideward, twisted and so on.
As I walked toward the apparatus I would be using, two buxom buddies caught my third eye. Both were on their knees with their backsides facing the pulley weight machine attached to the monkey bars.
Their buttocks were resting on their heels. And from this startling position they thrusted forward and flexed their glutes. What on earth were they doing?
They went down and up, down and up, over and over, for at least 20 repetitions.
Although I was concentrating deeply on my hanging objective, I caught another detail with my superpower peri-feral vision. I noted an eight-inch object in their hands that was pulled between their thighs and held in front of their hips.
My goodness, they were doing more than thrusting and releasing. They were also pulling on the object connected to the pole-y system.
Not to be distracted, I stared at the tattoos on their upper torsos. I noted a series of Chinese characters working their way down the spine of one, and a rose in the center of the other’s breastbone.
Maintaining my focus, I reached up and grabbed the bar. I hung there, isometrically contracting for a 30-count. Then I took a rest.
I could sense the two women looking at me but I was on a mission to get back in position.
In between sets I did a dip-and-hold type of plank. From the up position, once again, I isometrically held for time, feeling the pump in my chest and shoulders.
Even though a part of me wanted to be distracted, I stuck to my purpose. Due to my extreme concentration, I was finished with this part of my training within 15 minutes. The monkey bars had spanked me good.
But that’s not all.
After the monkey bars I went to the sauna, where I stood in the WuJi posture, and some other variations, for 30 minutes. A puddle of sweat coated the floor. I must have dropped four pounds.
Upon exiting the sauna, I took a cold shower then plunged into the pool for seven minutes. After this I toweled off and returned to the hot box for another 20 minutes of Power Postures, along with a wide array of isometrics that targeted my hips, glutes, calves and feet.
At 17 minutes and 30 seconds, I took a seat and focused on the timer until I could say, “That’s all for now.”
What a workout.
So glad I was able to maintain my focus.
